Bodrum is the number one holiday destination in Turkey and this didn’t happen by accident!
The town offers something for everyone from stunning high-class restaurants on the old harbour to bars and night-clubs for the younger generations.
The old streets wind through cafes, bars and shops giving a wonderful old Mediterranean village feel to the place. Many people liken the feel and look of Bodrum to some of the French towns around Nice and there is something for everyone here.
Around Bodrum there are many small towns and villages along the coast for you to discover and explore. Altinkum, for example, is small and quiet making it ideal for families with young children or those seeking a relaxed and easy-going beach holiday. You’ll find three long sandy beaches here along with an old harbour. The evening can be spent in one of the many quiet and relaxed bars and restaurants in the village. Many of them serving English dishes alongside traditional Turkish ones.
If you’re looking for some culture, you’re perfectly placed to visit the ancient Temple of Apollo at Didyama and the vast Roman ruins at Ephesus
At the opposite end of the spectrum to Altimkum is Gumbet. This purpose-built holiday resort caters for those wishing to relax on the beach during the day and party in one of its many nightclubs by night. Watersports are available as are many restaurants, bars and fast-food joints. This resort is a 10 minute bus ride away from Bodrum on a Dalmus (local bus) for those wishing to see the sights during the day.
Yalikavak is a sleepy village a few miles West of Bodrum. Sandy beaches and quiet restaurants provide a relaxed feel to this small town. If you’re looking to escape the crowds, this is a good place to start!
Didim is on the coast, West of Bodrum, opposite the Bodrum Peninsular. It is a small coastal town of about 26,000 people. Here you’ll find something for everyone. Many bars and restaurants line the beaches and the town offers everything including supermarkets and shops. The world renouned Temple of Apollo is within the suburbs of Didim and is a must for all sightseers
This is just a cmall selection of some of the main towns and villages around the Bodrum area.
